The San Francisco Chamber of Commerce is a nonprofit membership organization with a mission to attract, develop and retain business. Chamber members are diverse, and participate in our networking programs to grow their businesses, and in our public policy advocacy to better the business environment in San Francisco.

The Chamber by the Numbers

The Chamber was established in 1850 as a private business organization. Today, the Chamber is a 501(c)6 nonprofit organization, with a 501(c)3 foundation that includes Leadership San Francisco and the San Francisco Center for Economic Development.

Who the Chamber represents:

  • 1,500 members
  • 200,000 employees
  • Companies of every size and industry, from every neighborhood in San Francisco and around the Bay Area
  • Small Business: 85 percent of Chamber members have fewer than 250 employees

What the Chamber delivers:

  • 250 annual programs and events
  • 1 million annual referrals to member companies via phone, website, Chamber staff and programs
  • 5,000 subscribers to the Chamber's weekly e-newsletter, San Francisco Business This Week
  • 2,000 subscribers to the Chamber's quarterly newsletter, San Francisco Business This Quarter
  • Credibility with voters: 35 percent of city voters follow the Chamber's lead on ballot recommendations
