San Francisco Center for Economic Development

The San Francisco Center for Economic Development (SFCED) is San Francisco's private sector economic development agency. Its mission is to help the city attract and retain jobs and businesses.

The SFCED promotes San Francisco's advantages as a place to do business. The SFCED identifies candidate companies that are considering moving to San Francisco and demonstrate to these companies the benefits of a city location. The SFCED also conducts services for business retention.

Working in close partnership with the city, the SFCED seeks to help make the business-city interface work as smoothly as possible. From tax incentive information to permitting requirements, the SFCED is able to link business to the right answers and provide location assitance for securing a space to build, develop or expand a business.

The SFCED is a partner with the sfbizinfo network, a centralized source for accessing city agencies for business growth in San Francisco

The SFCED provides information in the following areas:

  • Up-to-date demographic and economic data
  • City and state incentive programs
  • Enterprise and foreign-trade zones
  • Real-estate market and space availability
  • Business license and tax guidance
  • Workforce development
