The Chamber in Sacramento – A delegation of business leaders is in Sacramento with the Chamber this week weighing in on the state budget, pending tax measures, pension reform and other issues impacting San Francisco business. “The Governor is committed to pension reform – he will get it or go down fighting,” said Secretary of Labor and Workforce Development Marty Morgenstern as he briefed the delegation on the Governor’s pension reform efforts and discussed the model partnership between the Chamber, City Hall and labor last November which ushered in local pension reform. During this year’s CityState trip, the group is also meeting with Senator Mark Leno; Assemblymember Tom Amniano; cabinet secretaries and senior staff to Governor Jerry Brown; California High-Speed Rail Authority Chairman Dan Richard; and many others. Chamber Celebrates Victory in Primary Election – The Chamber celebrates victory in Tuesday’s Primary Election with the overwhelming passage of Chamber-supported Prop 28, which will reform state term limits to help reduce turnover and improve governance in California. Tuesday was also the first election to use the new legislative and congressional districts drawn by the Citizens Redistricting Commission created by Chamber-supported Prop 11 in 2008.
