S.F. Supervisors Keep Focus on Jobs and Economy – San Francisco’s elected leaders are keeping the focus on jobs and the economy, according to the Chamber’s Mid-Year Paychecks & Pink Slips Scorecard released today.  Overall, the Board of Supervisors voted in favor of job and economic issues 80 percent of the time, down only two percentage points since 2011. “While the Chamber is encouraged by the Board’s recent actions, several major issues, such as business tax reform and the California Pacific Medical Center rebuild, will soon come before the Board for a vote,” said Chamber President & CEO Steve Falk. “We applaud Supervisors Mark Farrell, Carmen Chu, Sean Elsbernd, Jane Kim and Scott Wiener who received the highest scores and we encourage the full board to keep its focus on jobs and the city’s economy.” View the Scorecard. THIS WEEK IN PUBLIC POLICY

The Board of Supervisors’ Budget and Finance Committee adopted a revised version of Mayor Ed Lee’s two-year budget plan, which calls for spending $7.2 billion in the 2012-13 fiscal year and $7.6 billion in 2013-2014. The full board is expected to vote on the budget July 17. Foie gras backers filed a lawsuit to strike down California’s ban on the sale of foie gras. California’s Fair Employment and Housing Commission is being eliminated. The California Legislature passed a package of foreclosure prevention bills that will slow foreclosures, impose stricter rules on mortgage servicers and potentially raise the cost of home loans. The U.S. House of Representatives approved amendments to the proposed federal transportation bill that would strip funding for the Chamber-supported Central Subway and California High-Speed Rail projects. Both amendments will now go to the Senate for conference and a final vote.
