S.F. Supervisors Keep Focus on Jobs and Economy – San Francisco’s elected leaders are keeping the focus on jobs and the economy, according to the Chamber’s Mid-Year Paychecks & Pink Slips Scorecard released today. Overall, the Board of Supervisors voted in favor of job and economic issues 80 percent of the time, down only two percentage points since 2011. “While the Chamber is encouraged by the Board’s recent actions, several major issues, such as business tax reform and the California Pacific Medical Center rebuild, will soon come before the Board for a vote,” said Chamber President & CEO Steve Falk. “We applaud Supervisors Mark Farrell, Carmen Chu, Sean Elsbernd, Jane Kim and Scott Wiener who received the highest scores and we encourage the full board to keep its focus on jobs and the city’s economy.” View the Scorecard. New Bay Area Patent Office – U.S. Patent and Trademark Office will open one of four new satellite bureaus in the Bay Area, making it easier and less expensive for local inventors to go through the patent application process. The Chamber recently advocated for the new office during CityTrip Washington, D.C. and has long joined with regional business groups to support the effort. “The Bay Area accounts for 12 percent of all patents registered nationwide,” said Chamber President & CEO Steve Falk. “This new patent office will give boost to the economy and help bring more investment and jobs to California.” Read more.
