| Pro Hockey Returns to S.F. – The San Francisco Bulls opened up their inaugural season in front of more than 8,000 fans at the Cow Palace earlier this month, bringing professional hockey back to San Francisco for the first time in 15 years. The start of the season also unveils nearly $2 million in renovations to the Cow Palace including an 11,000-pound “Cube” scoreboard, a new exterior ice system and a beer garden behind the home net. "We are so proud to bring professional hockey back to the San Francisco Bay Area,” said Bulls president, general manager and head coach Pat Curcio. “We always believed that if we provided quality hockey at an affordable price, knowing the appetite for hockey in San Francisco and playing in this iconic venue, fans would show up and create a culture we could all be proud of.” The next home game is Nov. 9 vs. Stockton. | Yellow Pages Ban Suspended – San Francisco Board of Supervisors President David Chiu introduced legislation to suspend the Chamber-opposed ban on the Yellow Pages following a federal court ruling last week striking down a much weaker ban recently challenged in Seattle. The Chamber continues to favor an opt-out approach to reducing the delivery of unwanted phone books and supports the industry’s website www.yellowpagesoptout.com. “The Yellow Pages are a vital connection between local small businesses and prospective customers,” said Chamber President & CEO Steve Falk. “The Chamber urges Supervisor Chiu to develop an alternative that will not harm local small businesses, infringe on business’ first amendment rights or waste valuable tax-payer dollars with further appellate action.” Read more. |
