Green Loans for SF Property Owners – San Francisco commercial and residential property owners can begin applying Monday for funding for water-savings, energy efficiency, and renewable energy projects through GreenFinanceSF. The stimulus-supported program places the repayment obligation for eligible projects with the property, rather than the individual, and is paid back through property taxes. “GreenFinanceSF is a sensible program for property owners to overcome the large up-front costs of making environmental improvements to their buildings,” said Chamber President & CEO Steve Falk. Contact GreenFinanceSF at contact@greenfinancesf.org or 800.803.6930. Read more
New JOBS NOW! Resource Available– The Department of Human Services released a new employer handbook Wednesday for JOBS NOW!, the city's stimulus-funded employment program reimbursing 100 percent of the salary costs for new qualified hires at for-profit and non-profit organizations. The handbook provides a step-by-step guide for employers to recruit, hire and retain qualified employees. Local businesses, including Chamber members Recology, Webcor Builders, ACE Mailing and others, have hired 2,100 San Franciscans through the program since it began in May 2009. Make Your Voice Heard on Sit-Lie Ordinance– The sit-lie ordinance introduced by Mayor Gavin Newsom will be discussed at the Small Business Commission meeting Monday, April 12 at 5:30 pm. Chamber Member Airlines Boosting Passenger Traffic at SFO – While airports across the nation are loosing passengers, San Francisco International Airport (SFO) is gaining business according to new federal statistics. The airport's traffic increased 2 percent to 18.4 million passengers in 2009 and has grown over 30 percent in five years. Experts attribute the passenger growth to low-cost carriers including Chamber member companies Southwest Airlines and Virgin America.
