While Supervisor Avalos has proposed Sacramento-style fiscal mismanagement for the city, Supervisor Elsbernd introduced Charter amendments to control pension costs and guaranteed high salaries. Chamber Applauds Governor's Jobs Initiative – The Chamber applauds Gov. Schwarzenegger for his focus on jobs in Wednesday's State of the State address. Under the new California Jobs Initiative, the Governor pledged up to $200 million for employers to train and retain workers through the state Employment Training Panel (ETP). An additional $300 million will be available to employers through a $3,000 credit for each new employee hired completing ETP training and remaining employed for nine months. Read more
