Offering Commuter Benefits to Employees
Everyone wins when a company offers a commuter benefit: Employees save about 40% off their commute expenses, while also doing their part to help the environment. Employers save too due to reduced payroll taxes, roughly 9% of whatever the employee sets aside. Commuter benefits are much easier to administer than Section 125 plans (medical reimbursement, child care, etc.). There are no required plan documents, no requisite open enrollment periods, and no use-it-or-lose-it clauses. Commuter Check offers two commuter benefit programs so employers can chose whether they prefer to self-administer their benefit or have someone else do the work for them. Both are fully compliant with IRS regulations that govern this benefit.

Commuter Check Office
Commuter Check Office provides the employer with Commuter Check vouchers or stored-value debit cards delivered in bulk. Employees use their voucher or debit card to pay for their transit pass, parking or bike maintenance. Pricing is correlated to the total dollar- value of the vouchers/cards ordered. This inexpensive program is the best option for smaller organizations and those where all participants are in one geographic location.

Commuter Check Direct
Commuter Check Direct (CCD) offers employees home-delivery, online enrollment and live customer service. Employees can select actual transit passes (BART, MUNI, etc.), vouchers, or electronic loading of TransLink and debit cards. Parking and the bicycle benefit are also available. CCD greatly simplifies program administration since Accor handles essentially everything. This full-service program is offered for one low flat per-participant-per-month fee and is the most efficient option for larger employers, and those with employees spread out over multiple worksites. Employees appreciate this program since they can manage their benefit online and can receive their month order electronically or delivered directly to their home.
