Incorporated
in 1889, Merced offers a rich and varied living environment
with a unique blend of old and new. Merced's central core
consists of a viable downtown shopping and financial - governmental
center surrounded by several older well-maintained residental
neighborhoods characterized by wide tree-lined streets, and
exhibiting many structures of historical significance. Merced
is less than two hours by car from Yosemite National Park
to the east and to the west is picturesque Monterey Bay, the
Pacific Ocean, and miles of fabulous beaches. The community
is served by rail passenger service, a major airline, and
two bus lines. Fishing and water sports enthusiasts find many
opportunities close at hand, with several streams and lakes
within easy driving distance.

the 'Gateway to Yosemite' the Ramada Inn has 110
guest rooms and spacious suites with individual heating/air
conditioning units. Each room features color satellite
television with free HBO, direct dial touch tone telephones,
in room coffeemakers, and refrigerators. Other attractive
amenities include the Eagle's Nest Restaurant, outdoor
pool in a garden setting, 75% non smoking, and microwaves
upon request. There is a bowling center with arcade located
next door. Yosemite is located only 70 miles east
of the hotel on US 140 which runs parallel to Childs Avenue.
The Castle Air Museum is only 7 miles north of the hotel.

Castle Air Museum stands
as a tribute to the men and women of the past who put
their lives on the line for our freedom. Presently,
the museum has 44 World War II, Korean War, and Vietnam
Era aircraft on display. Rare aircraft such as the SR-71,
B-24 and B-36, all restored and maintained
by our devoted volunteer staff. |
