Yosemite
It
takes approximately 2 hours to reach the park. You'll
pass through Mariposa about halfway there, which makes
a perfect place to stop and stretch.
APPLEGATE
PARK & ZOO

& R Streets, Merced. The zoo is open daily 10 AM to
5 PM, nominal admission fee. The park has wild animals,
ducks, picnic areas, rose garden, Laura's Fountain and
Kiddieland Amusement area with train (available on weekends
June to September).
MERCED
COURTHOUSE MUSEUM
21st
& N Streets, Merced, 209-723-2401. Open Wednesday thru
Sunday, 1 to 4 PM. Free admission. Historical exhibits
of Merced County and the State. Rotating displays of
quilts, artists, dolls and more. Courthouse Park is
located adjacent to the Museum, which features a Veterans
Memorial.

MERCED AGRICULTURAL MUSEUM

10 AM to 4 PM. Free Admission. Antique farm equipment,
gas engines, horse-drawn buggies and more! Includes
a working blacksmith shop and seasonal antique engine
club gatherings

Monday thru Saturday 8 AM to 5 PM. Friendly tours
of small nut processing/packaging plant specializing
in pistachios and a variety of nuts produced in
the area. Free samples and gift boxes shipped.
RED ROCK WINERY & BREWERY

AM to 5 PM. Stop by Merced County's only winery
and brewery to taste some of the award-winning wines
and beers. Gift shop and picnic areas for your enjoyment.

8 AM to 6 PM. Observe Cheese being made the old-fashioned
way. A full-service deli and ice cream parlor is
available as well as picnic areas and a country
store. Not just Yosemite and San Francisco! We all
know that California isn't just surfing and Hollywood,
but do you? Come see our "real" California, where
quality people with hometown pride make one of America's
favorite foods…cheese.

at the former site of Castle Air Force Base, Santa Fe
and Buhach Roads in Atwater. Open daily 9 AM to 5 PM.
Adults $5, seniors $3, children 12 and under $2. Display
of 43 vintage military issue aircraft from W.W.II to
present. There is an indoor museum, gift shop, restaurant
and more!

at the former site of Castle Air Force Base Chapel.

for children from grade levels three through high school
and adults. The curriculum includes math, technology,
team building and more with a two-hour space mission
in the center's simulator. Corporate and public programs
also offered, as well as birthday parties, dinner mystery
parties and tour groups.

using sophisticated, state-of-the-art simulator. From
navigation and flight maneuvers to aerial combat, land

Only five percent of California's historic 4 million
acres of Central Valley wetlands exists today. More
than one-third of these remaining wetlands are found
in Merced County. This unique area has maintained incredible
diversity, offering permanent and seasonal wetlands,
riparian corridors and native grassland. More the 550
species of birds, animals and plants, along with international
shorebird reserves, can be viewed here.
