I am writing to express my concern over the proposed tax on commercial rents in San Francisco.

This tax will place another economic burden on local employers, disproportionately impact small business and non-profits, and delay economic recovery. San Francisco is already one of the most expensive cities in which to do business. This tax will only drive existing businesses out of the city and discourage others from locating here - putting jobs at risk, reducing the local tax base and jeopardizing city services.

I urge you to oppose Supervisor David Chiu’s proposal to impose a commercial rent tax on tens of thousands of San Francisco employers and neighborhood merchants.
