Big News – Proposed Delay For Implementation of Health Mandate To 1/1/08

On Tuesday Supervisor Tom Ammianno and Mayor Gavin Newsom introduced amendments to the San Francisco Health Access Plan (HAP).

This amendment responds to feedback provided by small business in DPH-sponsored focus groups by ensuring that businesses who are being asked to contribute health care funding for their employees can utilize a range with minimum bureaucracy.

The amendment extends the effective date of the mandate to January 1, 2008, allows non-resident employers to be placed into the HAP and establishes more detailed penalties.
